Cast Iron Noodles
Here's a simple recipe for cast iron noodles with a flavorful garlic and herb butter sauce:
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces (about 2 cups) of your favorite pasta (such as spaghetti, fettuccine, or linguine)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (or 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves)
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (or 2 teaspoons fresh rosemary leaves)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes). Drain the pasta and set it aside.
-
Prepare the Herb Butter Sauce:
- In a cast iron skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, dried thyme, and dried rosemary. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and starts to turn golden. If using fresh herbs, add them at this point as well.
-
Combine the Pasta and Sauce:
- Add the cooked and drained pasta to the skillet with the herb butter sauce. Toss the pasta gently to coat it evenly with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If the pasta seems a bit dry, you can add a splash of pasta cooking water to loosen the sauce.
-
Serve:
- Transfer the cast iron skillet with the noodles to the table or serving area. If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley over the noodles before serving.
-
Enjoy:
- Serve the cast iron noodles immediately while they're hot. You can enjoy them as a simple side dish or add some protein like grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms for a heartier meal.
This cast iron noodle dish is quick to make and full of rich, aromatic flavors from the garlic and herbs. It's a versatile recipe that you can customize with your favorite ingredients or additional toppings to suit your taste preferences.
